Abstract
Objective: In this study, bioactive compounds of green tea were determined and their stability was observed in toothpaste containing green tea.

Methods: The natural compounds in toothpaste containing green tea were extracted in methanol, diluted with water five times, and then analyzed. The contents of bioactive compounds in toothpaste were observed for one month. The compounds in toothpaste were analyzed by external standard method of HPLC using reversed-phase column as stationary phase and phosphoric acid-acetonitrile gradient condition as mobile phase.

Results: The content of total compounds was 875.88 mg/g in toothpaste containing green tea. After one month, total content was 264.62 mg/g, thereby 66% of compounds are decomposed for one month.

Conclusion: In toothpaste containing green tea, majority of compounds was decomposed in a month. Therefore, it is need to find an effective manufacturing condition to prolong the shelf life to seek the positive preventive effects of green tea considering the distribution period of toothpaste.
